Detox

Thinking about words

And poems

And expressions

I’ve been letting it spill out

Like detoxing my soul

And today

I woke up happy

First time in a long time

People shake their head

Only seeing negativity being released

A vapor into the sky

But those people have never been caught in

Chemical warfare without a mask

Not realizing the only way to recover

Is to carefully rip out your veins and let the fumes escape

The scars of putting them back in place are what takes time to heal

We poets, and writers, and over-thinkers are licking our wounds

We see each other and help each other sound out the words that are caught in our throat

When this happens

We remember humanity

We remember what it was like in its infantile state

Pure

Innocent

Caring

This is what we live for

And I’m trying to get it right
