Over the Cliff

A place to rest

My head is broken

The bleeding stopped years ago

The accident was violent

Still looking for someone to blame

Letting a semi slam into a house

Carrying dead bodies to their graves

Oversimplifying complex issues

I learned it from the evening news

Spewing facts that twist like daggers

Keep it light

No one likes to think

About problem solving on a Saturday

In June

When the waves are good

But sometimes tragedy is conspiring

And we must pull ourselves from family vacation

To pick up the mess we could have prevented

If we would have just listened

Instead of yelling about the past

To people who have their hands off the wheel

As a cinder block pushes on the gas

Unfortunately we’ll all be going over the cliff
