Motherhood

At first they were empty

Full of promises I could not see

The smiles brought joy, but it was not

The life fulfilling prophecy I had been told

Then we cried together

In the privacy of our home

We had met our frustration

Both feeling completely alone

I saw a piece of me I had hidden from myself

But it was caught in her little brown eye

It was then that I fell in love

Her tiny hand that cloned my own, fitting perfectly
